The venue of the event is the gymnasium in Changqing Campus of Shandong Normal University, which is located in the northeast part of the campus. With an architectural area of 10551.90m2, the gymnasium is a symbol of the district modern development. The entire gymnasium covers 5275.95m2, with the following divisions.

Jinan

Located on the eastern coast of China, Jinan is the capital city of Shandong Province and regional central city. It is also a city at the vice-provincial level and a foreign-oriented city approved by the central government. Jinan covers an area of 8,177 square kilometers with 3,257 square kilometers of urban areas.

Jinan has a long history. It is also a culturally famous city publicized by the State Council. Jinan is glorified as the "Spring City" for its numerous springs. The city tree is willow and the city flower is lotus.

Jinan is an essential birthplace of the civilization in China. Shun, a chieftain of the pristine tribe was born and lived around Jinan. Chengzi Cliff in eastern Jinan is the place where Longshan Civilization (4600-4000 years ago) of the late Neolithic Age was found with the basalt as its symbol. At this site, about 200,000 square meters of China's oldest city relics was discovered. Jinan has a history of more than 2600 years. When the Shire and County System was established by the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, Jinan belonged to Jibei Shire. At the beginning of the Han Dynasty, Jinan Shire was founded. Consequently, Jinan got its name. Since the Ming and the Qing dynasties, Jinan has been the capital of Shandong Province. The city of Jinan was set up in July, 1929.

There are many historic sites in Jinan such as Shungeng Mountain which is the ruin of the Shun Civilization (22nd century B.C.); the Qi Great Wall (built in the 3rd century B.C) which is even older than the Qin Great Wall; China's oldest ground structure----the stone ancestral temple of Xiaotangshan Guoshi of the Han Dynasty (built in the 1st century B.C); China's oldest stone pagoda-Liubu Four-Door Pagoda of the Sui Dynasty (built in the 7th century); the colorful sculptures at Lingyan Temple of the Song Dynasty ( built in the 11th century) which are praised as the "Best Sculptures in China".

Jinan is also the home to many celebrities such as Bianque, founder of the Chinese traditional medicine science; Fang Xuanling and Qin Qiong, men of great merit in founding the Tang Dynasty (618-907); well-known litterateurs such as Li Qingzhao and Xin Qiji. In addition, outstanding scholars such as Li Bai, Du Fu, Su Shi, Zeng Gong also lived in or visited Jinan in the past. As a result, it comes to an agreement that "there are many celebrities in Jinan".

Situated at 36o40'N and 117o00'E, Jinan is near Mount Tai to the south and neighbors the Yellow River on the north. The terrain of Jinan slopes down from south to north and its landforms vary with hills, plains in front of the mountains and the alluvial plains of the Yellow River. There are two major water systems in Jinan-- the Yellow River and the Xiaoqing River. Daming Lake and Baiyun Lake are the major lakes.

Jinan belongs to the warm temperate zone with a continental monsoon climate. It has four distinct seasons and sufficient sunlight. Its annual average temperature is 13.6oC. January is the coldest month with an average temperature of -1.9oC, and July the hottest with an average temperature of 27oC. The annual rainfall is 614 mm.

In 2005, led by the CPC Committee and the People's Municipal Government, Jinan has devoted to developing the economy and has made great progress in national economy and social affairs

Industry has kept a sustained and reasonable rapid development. In 2005, the increase value is 73.4 billion yuan, an increase of 19.3% compared with 2004. The sales income of large-scale industrial enterprises amounts to 207.56 billion yuan, an increase of 27.3%; investment in industrial fixed assets is 35.23 billion yuan, an increase of 35.2%; large-scale industrial enterprises amount to 1714, 202 more than last year and 303 of those enterprises have an income of more than 100 million, 71 more than those of 2004. The major products have kept on increasing. 124 of the 219 principal industrial products have increased which make up 55.6%. The production of steel has topped 10 million tons.

Agricultural structure adjustment and industrialization process are developing fast. The sown area of crops is 623.6 kiloacres, an increase of 2.4% compared with 2004 including 438.5 kiloacres of grain, an increase of 4.9%; 120.7 kiloacres of vegetables, an increase of 0.1%; 16.2 kiloacreas of oil crops, an increase of 3.1%; 30.3 kiloacreas of cotton, a decrease of 16%. There are 1058 livestock farms, 80 more than the number of last year. There are 21,000 large-scale feeders, an increase of 12.1%. There are 170 major agricultural enterprises, each of which has an annual sales income of more than 5 million yuan, 19 more than that of 2004. There are 2 enterprises at the national level, 16 at the provincial level and 41 at the city level. 20 enterprises have an income of more than 100 million.

In 2005, the increase value of modern service industry is 35.8 billion yuan, an increase of 13% which makes up 40.7% of that of the tertiary industry. The scale of investment in fixed assets is expanding. The total investment in fixed assets is 85.69 billion yuan, an increase of 31.6%. Foreign trade keeps on developing. The exports and imports amount to 3.762 billion US dollars, an increase of 23.5% compared with 2004. The exports amount to 1.778 billion US dollars, an increase of 29.5%.
